About Honest Car Check

Honest Car Check is a UK-only vehicle history service built on official vehicle records. We are run by DOT.MOV Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.

Why we exist

Most UK vehicle check sites are designed to upsell. They show a teaser, push a pricier "premium" report, then ask for a monthly subscription on top. We are not that. One free profile from your registration. One £4.99 full report with everything in it, paid once. No nag, no add-on bundles, no upsell ladder. Dealers who run a report on every car they sell can take a monthly trade account instead.

Our sources

Vehicle details, tax, MOT results, mileage readings and recalls come from official government vehicle records, checked live for each registration. Nothing in a vehicle check or report is guessed or bought in from a third party.

What you get for free

Type any UK registration into our home page and you get the vehicle's identity, current tax and MOT status, the full MOT pass-rate history, the mileage timeline as a chart, and our basic flags for any mileage anomaly, outstanding recall or export marker. All free, no signup.

What you get for £4.99

A plain English verdict up front, the problems that keep coming back across MOT visits, a mileage check across every recorded reading that flags any drop, every MOT defect and advisory, questions to ask the seller, and a downloadable PDF you keep forever. One payment. No subscription.

Who writes the content

Editorial guides under /cars, /compare, /learn and /selling are written by Honest Car Check from official MOT records and published UK motoring information, so each piece is grounded in real data rather than guesswork. We do not copy from other sites. If you spot anything inaccurate, tell us and we will fix it.

The per-vehicle profile and £4.99 report are not pre-written articles. They are built live from official records on the registration you submit, then summarised in plain English against that vehicle's own history at the moment of purchase. Every vehicle gets its own report.
